House. Dated 1695. Coursed squared limestone with areas of old
limewash; stone slate roof; rebuilt brick right-end stack. 2
gables to front.
2 storeys and attic; 3-window range. First floor has three
6/6-pane sashes in stone surrounds which have been enlarged
and had ovolo-moulded stone mullions and transoms cut out. In
gables above, two 2-light ovolo-moulded stone mullion and
transom windows with leaded lights, that to left inserted in
former hoist opening and dated 1984.
Ground floor has two 6/6-pane horned sashes in surrounds
similar to first floor. To left plank door in moulded stone
doorcase with pilaster strips to each side with recessed
panels with gothic traceried heads with carved scrolls above
supporting coved stone cornice. Oval plaque in relief to
centre has incised initials BBI and date 1695. Moulded strings
over ground and first floors and over windows in gables.
INTERIOR has late C17 closed string dog-leg staircase with
heavy turned balusters and square newels from ground to second
floors; ground floor front and first floor rear have late C18
stone chimneypieces; first floor front has late C17
bolection-moulded timber chimneypiece with floating cornice
and raised and fielded overmantel panel with pilasters to left
and right and section of moulded timber cornice; mid C18 hob
grate. Built-in cupboard to left has pair of doors with raised
and fielded panels and section of matching cornice. Large late
C17 bolection-moulded timber chimneypiece with pulvinated
frieze (cf No.9 park Street) now stored (1990) in entrance
passage to be reinstated in ground floor rear. Parts of late
C17 roof structure including one clasped purlin visible on
second floor. Interior has undergone C20 alteration,
especially in rear wing; interior of flat (No.105B) not
inspected.
