Town house with later shop in the C19 used for town council
meetings on 1st floor. Early C17, refronted early C19. Stucco
on studwork to 2nd floor, on rubble to 1st floor; steep
asbestos slate roof with projecting front eaves; lateral brick
stack at rear of front range. U-shaped plan including parallel
range at rear linked by wing at rear left. 3 storeys; 5-window
range. Early C19 sixteen-pane hornless sashes to 2nd floor
(2nd from left window blocked and painted on with thick
glazing bars). C20 transomed casement windows to 1st floor;
large mid/late C20 shop front to ground floor with its doorway
central to front. INTERIOR: early C18 open-well closed string
stair with turned balusters and moulded handrail; C17
chamfered granite fireplace to 1st-floor room and rare, if not
unique (for Cornwall), early C17 oak roof structure with
curved feet to the trusses, threaded purlins and 2 tiers of
collars pegged with halved and lapped dovetail joints.
