Villa. Early C19. Probably by Philip Sambell for Josephus
Ferris, developer. Stuccoed masonry; low-pitched grouted slate
hipped roof with wide eaves. Square double-depth plan plus
service wing behind right-hand side. Central porch fronting
entrance hall. 2 storeys; symmetrical 3-window entrance and
garden fronts. Plinths, panelled corner pilasters, moulded
architraves, widely-spaced brackets and moulded and carved
cornice under the eaves and original hornless sashes with
glazing bars. Entrance front has central single-storey closed
porch with moulded entablature carried on fat square columns
with doorway into left-hand side; blind windows on left.
Garden front has round-headed central niche to ground floor
and margin panes to flanking sashes. INTERIOR not inspected
but likely to be of interest.
