Terraced houses originally built as seven, no 7 destroyed in
the Second World War. 1843-4. Yellow brick set in Flemish
bond, stucco, roof of slate. Two storeys over basement, one
window each. Nos 1 and 4 stand forward by one brick's depth,
nos 2 and 3 and nos 5 and 6 are divided by a narrow vertical
recessed panel. Basement stuccoed. No 1 has a single-storey
porch to the side, nos 2 and 3 and nos 5 and 6 have paired
recessed porches, no 4 a single recessed porch; all porches
have steps up with cast-iron railings, Doric pilasters and
entablature and panelled doors of original design to nos 2, 3
and 5. Ground-floor windows flat-arched in stucco architraves,
no 1 also has an entablature, nos 2, 4 and 5 have sashes of
original design with margin lights. First-floor windows also
flat-arched with stucco architraves, entablature to no l,
sashes of original design with margin lights to no 3. Stucco
cornice and blocking course; stacks on party walls. Mansard
roof with dormers to nos 3 and 4. Nos 5 and 6 were raised to
three storeys above basement at the rear at a relatively early
date. These houses form a group with nos 8-13 Bingham Street
(q.v.).
