GV II

Villa. c1830s. Built for Josephus Ferris, developer. Stucco on
rubble; asbestos slate roof, hipped return on the left,
projecting eaves at the front; brick end stacks. Square
double-depth plan with 2 reception rooms flanking an entrance
hall at the front plus service wings at the rear. 2 storeys;
symmetrical 3-window front. Central elliptically-arched
doorway with porch on fluted Doric columns and moulded
entablature; terminal quoin strips, keyblocks, original
16-pane hornless sashes. Left-hand return wall has later
horned sashes on the left, blind windows on the right, widely
spaced eaves brackets. INTERIOR not inspected but likely to be
of interest.
