House at end of row, returning to Mill Street. Early C16.
Large-panel timber-framing, with diagonal tension bracing
plaster fill, underbuilt in brick, steeply pitched tile roof
brick stack. Parallel plan with first-floor room orginally
open to roof.
2 storeys and attic, 1-windowed. 2-light gabled dormer above
2-light casement, above 2-light shop front. Return to Mill
Street has 3-light casement above 9-pane, and, to right, C20
part-glazed door on one stone step. First floor jettied
slightly to both fronts; to right, shared with No.54 (qv), a
stack in C17 brickwork. Roof returns in hipped end.
INTERIOR: altered, details include a winder stair to the rear
behind the inserted brick stack, first-floor exposed square
framing, and attic with wind braces to the front and rear roof
pitches; roof not accessible.
