Gatepiers and attached walls at Compton Beauchamp House (q.v.) c.1710. Limestone
ashlar. Square main piers, each with moulded plinth block and entablature
surmounted by griffin's head. Fine wrought-iron gates have segmental
wrought-iron arch over with the cypher of Edward Richards. Walling swept round
in elliptical curve to piers which are surmounted by urns with gadrooned bases
and garlanded tops. The walling to either side of these piers is divided into 4
bays each by square piers surmounted by pineapples; continuous moulded plinth
and coping with wrought-iron crossed spears in the spaces between the piers.
