Detached house, now estate offices. C17 with clock tower and
additions of 1870s to south in same style by Anthony Salvin.
Alternate bands of brick and stone with flint, tiled roof, brick
stacks. L-plan. 2-storey and attic, 5-window front; the right
part of 1870s. Two chamfered Tudor-arched doorcases to left and
right with planked doors, three 2-light chamfered mullioned windows
with dripstones and relieving arches. First floor has four cross
windows with one 2-light chamfered mullioned window lighting stairs
over left door. Two large attic gables with coped verges and 3-
light chamfered mullioned window to left and 2-light to right.
Projecting wing to left has central Tudor-arched planked door and
one 2-light mullioned window either side, two cross windows to
first floor , single large attic gable and 3-light mullioned window
and coped verges. In angle between two wings is square clock tower
with cornice, pyramidal tiled roof with louvred gablets and one
cross window. Left return of wing has 3-light mullioned window to
ground, 3-light mullioned and transomed window to first floor and
2-light mullioned window to attic gable, with pair of diagonally-
set stacks on apex. C19 right return of main range has 2-light
mullioned windows to ground, cross windows to first floor and 2-
light mullioned window to attic. Rear has C20 flat-roofed single-
storey extension to centre with two 3-light mullioned and transomed
windows to first floor, left part is similar to return. Two attic
gables have one blocked 2-light mullioned window each, coped verges
with pairs of diagonally-set stacks to apexes. Rear of wing has
chamfered square-headed doorcase and one 3-light mullioned window
either side, with relieving arches and dripstones. First floor has
central cross window with 3-light mullioned and transomed window to
either side, two large attic gables have one 2-light mullioned
window each, and coped verges with a pair of diagonally-set stacks
on the apex of left one.
The interior was extensively altered in C19 and C20, retains
barrel-vaulted ground floor to west wing.
