attached retaining
wall 30 metres east
of Mapperton House

GV II

Garden-House. c.1900, with earlier material incorporated. Rubble-stone
walls, with a slate and stone slab roof. Stone gable-copings. Spiral
stone chimney stack and corbelled embrasure. Two storeys, with
entrances at lower and upper levels, owing to terracing. Square and
tall. Lower entrance, south side, round-arched with projecting imposts
and keystone. Upper entrance, north side into small chamber. Two
2-light ovolo-moulded stone mullions to upper level, with leaded lights.
C17 Separate labels over. Attached retaining wall of garden, runs
east-west, c.20 ft high. Random rubble with a chamfered coping, c.C19.
