Palmers Hall: late C18/early C19. Dwelling and hall. Brick;
plain tile roof; brick end stack; ornate timber clock and bell
tower with weather vane. 2-storey bay to left has 6/6 sash
under segmental arch to ground floor; to left, entrance with
6-panel door and overlight with glazing-bars, in moulded case,
under moulded flat hood on fluted pilasters; to right, 2
mullion and transom lights with glazing bars, under segmental
arches.
Grammar School: early C15, roof raised c1686. Roughcast; plain
tile roof. Single-storey and attic; 3-window range: 2-light
stone mullioned windows with trefoil heads, lattice-glazing
and casements, that to right restored. 5 tile-hung gable
dormers with 2-light lattice glazed windows. 2 leaf studded
plank door, with moulded 4-centred arch and jambs.
INTERIOR: C14 hall, with original roof with tie-beams, and 2nd
tier of tie-beams added probably c1600. Barnaby House: c1400;
retains original roof with cusped windbraces; 1st floor room
with C16 wall decoration. Range to south east, has stone
lateral stack and brick end stack; some original fenestration,
with some C19 insertions; jambs of blocked doorway to Silkmill
Lane.
