Mid C19 cottage with unusual features. Reached through coach passage between
Nos 13 and 15 London Road. Two-and-a-half storeys rendered brick. Concrete tile
roof. Elaborated Dutch gable with small attic window and one window on each floor.
Set back single storey porch to right. Front ground floor room has ceiling
decorated with arms of 40 English towns and cities, with the Royal Arms in the
centre. The decoration is mainly engravings, printed on paper and stuck to the
ceiling. Mottoes include "A thing of beauty is a joy forever", "Religion is the
parent of Architecture" and "Architecture is the parent of Taste". Undercut cornice.
Scroll brackets to fireplace. Back room also has a good chimneypiece of the period,
with lions heads.
