2/15 Stable Blocks And Stable Yard Walls Approximately 250 Metres To North-West Of Basildon House

Stable blocks and stable yard walls, now ticket office, toilets and house. Circa 1843, built under the supervision of C.R. Cockerell. 2 ranges. Red and some blue brick with stone and cement dressings. Slate roofs. Gable ends to north-east with recessed blank arches and impost bands. West range: 2 stacks and deep overhanging eaves to centre. L-plan with taller block to south-west and low return wing to east. 4 large boarded double doors to right, and central door flanked by casements with radiating fanlights. East range: 2 stacks. 3 almost symmetrical, gables, that in centre taller with loft door and hoist, and 2-light casements in flanking gables. L-plan with cottage to right. 3 large double boarded doors to left under pentice roof. 2 double doors to right flanked and divided by casements, all with radiating fanlights. Stable yard enclosed by entrance wall to north of red brick and stone dressings, with central gatepiers. Arched entrance to south of brick with stone impost bands and keystone. Clock in stone surround above flanked by scrolled volutes. Basildon Park, The National burst, 1977.
