Farmhouse. Late C16, remodelled and partly rebuilt mid-Cl9. Roughly coursed slate-
stone, rendered to front of hall range, with granite quoins; granite ashlar to oriel.
Slate roof with ceramic cresting. Basic L-plan with oriel to far right of hall
range in angle with cross-wing; hall range largely rebuilt to right of left ridge
stack in C19. 2 storeys. Hall range has 3 late C19 casements on first floor and
one to left of doorway to left of centre. This is 4-centred with hollow spandrels.
C19 boarded door with decorated strap hinges. 4-light flat-faced chamfered mullion
window to right in 2 sections with central king mullion. Hip-roofed oriel has
4-light mullion windows to first floor with central king mullion dividing it into
2 sections; moulded jambs. 4-light mullion window to ground floor, also with king
mullion, has 2 sets of paired ogee-headed lights wwith trefoils to spandrels. Infilled
window to left side of oriel is cut by rebuilt front wall of hall range. Left wall
of cross-wing has similar 2-light mullion window to left on ground floor to that on
ground floor of oriel. 3-light mullion window to right on ground floor with 2-light
mullion window directly above. Rendered ridge stacks to left and far right of hall
range with integral end stack to cross-wing. 2 storey catslide outshut to rear has
gable breaking eaves lit by tall narrow rectangular window with margin lights and
similar round-headed window lighting staircase to right. Reused segmental-headed
chamfered doorway to right end of outshut and small slit window on first floor to
left end. Lean-to housing back staircase to rear of cross-wing at junction with
hall range. C19 lean-to dairy attached to right gable end of hall range. Interior:
Moulded 4-centred archway with hollow spandrels on same line as mullion windows in
left wall of cross-wing links cross-wing to oriel. Partition wall running along axis
of hall range behind oriel has C19 internal window with Gothic tracery. Right ground
floor room of hall range (behind cross-wing) has flat heavy joists. Cross-wing has
large paired open fireplaces with cloam oven to left and C19 wooden mantel-shelf.
Section of hall range to left of left stack has collar and tie beam roof in 3 bays
with cambered collars and trenched purlins: apart from one collar and tie beam truss
to far right of hall range on line with left wall of cross-wing, the rest of the
hall range roof has been rebuilt in C19 with machine-sawn principal rafters, rafters
and purlins. C19 roof structure also to cross-wing.
