GV II

House. Early to mid-C18, extended late C18 or early C19 with later additions
and alterations. Painted roughly coursed slate-stone, slate hung on first floor
to front right, mainly cob to rear; slate roof. Original cottage with cob gable
ends (surviving internally) extended both ways. 2 storeys. Four Cl9 casements
(some with L-hinges) on first floor, 3 to right to slate-hung part directly
below eaves. Ground floor of this part has 2 casements to left and one to right
of gabled porch over C20 glazed door; windows with H-L hinges. Left part has
casement to left of C20 glazed door. Rubblestone ridge stack with slate drips
at junction between parts, similar integral end stack to left and external end
stack with red brick top to rubblestone shaft on right. Projecting former dairy
at right-angles to rear.
Interior: Slate floor and chamfered joists in room to right of ridge stack,
which has open fireplace with wood lintel. 2 cob walls of original gable ends
visible in roof space, right with 2 pigeon nesting holes and ledges exposed
owing to removal of first-floor ceiling at time of resurvey (January 1988).
Collar truss roof in 4 bays between cob walls.
