GV II*

Houses, now shops and offices. Mid C17, C18 fenestration.
Timber-framed and rendered with a central Pennant and brick
stack, and pantile roof. Double-depth plan with gable to
street.
4 storeys; 4-window range. 4 gables with a shallow jetty above
the first-floor, a pantiled lean-to canopy to the second floor
of No.25, and a small cross-gable to the right end; C19 shop
fronts with thin pilaster jambs to Nos 27-31, C20 shop front
to No.25; first and second floors have canted oriels with
8/8-pane sash windows to Nos 27 & 29 and 10/10-pane sashes to
No.25, and paired sashes with 6/6 panes in flush boxes to
No.31; third floor has 8/8-pane sashes to Nos 27-31, 3/6 to
No.25, a lozenge-shaped window with glazing bars in an infill
between the 2 left gables, and barge-boards to the eaves. A
large square stone chimney in the centre valley with a brick
stack.
INTERIOR: No.31 converted to offices c1950, C17 open-well
staircase against the party wall with ball finials and
pendentives to the newels and turned banisters. No.27,
ovolo-moulded beams with cyma stops on first floor, a fine
6-panel door to second-floor front room, which has a C19
cast-iron range set in a stone Tudor-arched fireplace with
stopped mouldings and cornice above.
