Wall at Shen Place Almshouses

GV II

Wall 9m N of Shen Place Almshouses (qv). 1910. Red brick with
flint panels, upper face has shaped brick coping with Portland
Stone insert at each panel interval. Approx 38m long, 0.8m
high. Open trellised fencing above, 4m high with fixing posts
set at panel intervals, single leaf gate at E and W ends and
principal double leaf gate in centre, gateways have red brick
piers with squat pyramidal Portland Stone caps, central piers
have flint panels as in wall, gates vertical boarded with
trellis work as on wall head. The wall forms a group with the
Almshouses.
