SO 3288 BISHOP'S CASTLE C.P. WELSH STREET (south-
west side)

GV II

House, now inn. C17, remodelled in mid- to late-C19. Stucco lined as
ashlar on coursed limestone rubble with slate roof. T-plan, lobby-entry.
Basement and 2 storeys. Decorative barge and fascia boards, gables
over outer windows, and large central stone ridge stack. 3-window
front; tripartite plate glass sashes with central first floor plain
sash; central boarded double doors, and mid- to late-C19 porch consisting
of octagonal columns supporting frieze and cornice. Left-hand front
with tripartite sash on each floor. Interior: two C17 fireplaces with
chamfered and stopped lintels; C17 staircase. (c.f. No.3,. Welsh Street g.v.).
Late-C19 cast iron railed enclosure at front.
