Public house. Mid C19. Red brick and steep red tiled roof with
ornamental cresting. A low 2-storeys and cellar building facing
E onto the market place. Chamfered plinth, 2 windows to each
floor, central entrance, and plastered soffit to overhanging
eaves. Symmetrical with 3-light casement windows on 1st floor
with cambered arches, similar deeper Ground floor windows with
transomes. Elaborate wooden Jacobean style gabled porch with
square fluted pillars, bargeboard, finial, curved braces, and
roof banded with plain and decorative tiles. Half glazed
panelled double doors. Interior little altered, with counter and
barback. Included for group value.
