C18. Shown on the extreme right of J M W Turner's drawing of Kirkgate, dated 1797
(British Museum). Red brick. Hipped modern pantile roof. Three storeys. Wood
modillioned eaves cornice. Six bays: sashes. Nos 5 and 6 have mid C19 shopfronts
with fluted pilasters taking moulded consoles with ornamental finials on top. No 5A
was the Borough Police Station until the establishment of the West Riding Force in
1887.
