Gatehouse, now outbuilding. Probably C13, remodelled C14, altered C19,
restored 1972. Coursed rubble with dressed quoins and tile roof. West front
of two storeys, with a 2-light casement over a blocked doorway. This has a
semi-circular head and is chamfered. The blocking contains a fixed window.
East front has a two-centred arch to the doorway, perhaps C14, set within
a much larger arch. The left-hand jamb, and some of this semi-circular arch
survives. North gable has an opening at each level filled with rubble where
C19 bread ovens were attached. (RCHM, 3, p 216, no 2).
