Gravestone of Joseph Grimaldi in

Headstone and footstone. 1837. The top of both stones have an
elaborately curved profile, and they are surrounded by cast-
and wrought-iron railings of late C20 date. Joseph Grimaldi
(1778-1837) was a famous clown and pantomimist who first
appeared as an infant dancer at Sadler's Wells and acted there
and at Drury Lane for many years. He became part-proprietor of
Sadler's Wells and was a long-standing inhabitant of
Clerkenwell.
