Three terraced houses. c.1840-1843, of two builds. Probably by
William Chadwell Mylne for the New River Estate. Gold and
brown stock bricks set in Flemish bond with banded stucco
ground-floor with channelling and stucco dressings; no. 12
with Welsh-slate mansard roof with dormers; roofs to nos. 14 &
16 obscured by parapet. Side-hall entrance plan. No. 12 three
storeys with basement and attic, nos. 14 & 16 of four storeys
with basement; 2 windows each. One step rises to ground-floor
entrance on left: doorway with pilaster jambs carrying
corniced-head, rectangular overlight with margin lights and
original 4-panelled door; 6/6 sashes. Stucco sill band to 1st
floor full-length 6/6 architraved sashes with
console-bracketed cornices and coupled cast-iron balconies
with palmette patterned iron railings. Gauged-brick flat
arches to 6/6 (2nd floor) and 3/6 (3rd floor) sashes; nos. 14
& 16 with 3rd floor stucco sill band. No. 12 with stucco
parapet and stone coping. Stucco cornice cut back from nos. 14
& 16; stucco blocking course. Attached iron railings.
