Linden House

GV II

House. c1845. Stuccoed brick with ashlar dressings; slate roof
with 4 brick end stacks with fluted shafts. Tudor style. 2
storeys with attic; symmetrical 3-bay range; bays articulated
by pilasters, with Tudor arches to gabled end bays. Central
bay has 1st floor sill course and parapet with modillioned
cornice. Entrance had moulded pilasters and archivolt;
Y-tracery fanlight over C20 paired half-glazed doors; inner
entrance. Windows have sills, chamfered reveals and label
moulds to 4-pane sashes; central 1st-floor window is smaller
with 2-pane sash; attic has gabled dormer with paired
casements. Returns and rear similar. INTERIOR, not inspected,
noted as retaining original features. Built as part of the
abortive Bishopton Spa development.
