House, now school. c1690 with additions of 1836. For W Warry.
Brick with ashlar dressings; hipped tile roof with 3 brick
stacks. Double-depth plan. Georgian style.
2 storeys with attic; symmetrical 5-window range with 2-window
addition to left. Plaster plinth, rusticated quoins and top
modillioned wood cornice. Formerly central entrance has C19
porch with large Tuscan angle pilasters and entablature,
architrave to 6-flush-panel door and side lights. Windows have
narrow sills, plastered reveals and rubbed brick flat arches
with ashlar keys over 12-pane sashes; 4 pedimented dormers
with 2-light small-paned casements. Roughcast right return has
entrance with 9-flush-panel door and varied fenestration. Rear
has 2 wings, one with hipped roof and 16-pane sashes.
INTERIOR: ground-floor rooms with fielded panelling, cornice
and dado, and window shutters; early C18 6-panel doors; room
to right has moulded pilaster strips to fireplace overmantel
and later bookcases; room to left has bolection-moulded
overmantel; room to left end has cornice and C19 black marble
fireplace; staircase to rear has cut string, column-on-vase
balusters, a pair to foot, and moulded handrail; 1st floor has
cornices to windows, one room with paired 3-fielded-panel
doors to cupboard; attic has re-used C17 door.
