Terrace with pavilion. C18. Limestone, no roofs; the ensemble appears to
have been erected as a large scale garden folly or ornament. Broad raised
stone-paved terrace backed by high plain wall set at right angles to main
house (qv) and facing south-east. Front of main paved area defined by two
pairs of decorative pilasters and at corners remains of paired pilasters with
richly decorated floriated heads; set forward centrally square pavilion or
gazebo with corner piers carrying pilasters with rich floral decoration and
heavy consoles, joined by arch, but all without ceiling or roof; pavilion
approached from lower garden level by broad flight of eleven steps.
