7/208 Lych gate about 20 yards
west of the Church of
- St Peter

GV II


Lych gate. Possibly C15 or C16, perhaps a C19 creation from salvaged
timbers, restored in late C19 (?). Timber-frame, slate roof. Two
unequal bays, corresponding to an entrance for cortege vehicles and
another for pedestrians, separated by stop-chamfered post supporting
longitudinal beam and cantilevered cross beams with arch braces. End
posts are restorations.
