Description

FELTON FELTON PARK
NU 1800
12/107 Ice-house
100 metres
north-east of
Felton Park
GV II

Ice-house, probably mid-C18. Squared rubble with cut dressings. Segmental-
vaulted passage, its front wall and doorway broken away, to rebated hatch
opening into barrel-vaulted ice chamber at just below roof level. Side walls
of ice chamber batter in at base; height of chamber c.5 metres above rubble
infill.

The absence of brickwork suggests that this is a relatively early ice-house;
the nearby brick garden wall (q.v.) is dated 1774.
