Barn and cow house. Late C18 -early C19 barn with mid - late C19 cow house. Local
chert rubble with larger, more carefully shaped quoins; slate roofs.
Plan: barn and adjoining cow house but on slightly different axes but basically
facing west. The threshing barn to left has opposing central full height doorways
onto the threshing floor. The cowhouse alongside to right has a hayloft over and
returns forward a short distance at the right end.
Exterior: the barn has short projecting midstrey walls to the full height doorway
and contains a solid plain timber doorframe and double doors, (similar to rear).
The cowhouse has an arcade of 6 round-headed arches and there are 2 hayloft loading
hatches. The projecting room has a doorway in the side and in the end a ground
floor window under a low segmental arch and a hayloft loading hatch. Both buildings
are gable-ended. The main roof steps down from cow house to barn.
Interiors: have plain carpentry detail. The barn is open to an A-frame truss roof
with plate yokes. The cow house roof is carried on scissor-braced trusses.
