Schoolhouse

II

School and schoolhouse attached to south. 1867. Coursed ironstone
rubble, ashlar dressings,fishscale slate roofs with iron ridge with
small ventilators 3 stacks. T-plan. Single storey school runs to
the north at right angles from schoolhouse. North return of school has
projecting ashlar dressed stack, ornate shaped gable and coped chimmney.
West front has ashlar plinth narrow rectangular plain sashed window to
north, with small buttress supporting slight projection with ornate shaped
gable with finial and containing, a large 3 mullion rectangular window
with small triangular opening above. Small buttress to south. 2 large
rectangular windows beyond one with a single mullion, the other with
2 mullions. Cross wing has small buttress and small rectangular
window on north side with large ashlar dressed lateral stack with 2 tall
chimneys. Pointed doorway to north end of west front of projection with
small rectangular window to south. Plaque above with a large 'B' for
Brownlow inscribed on shield. Small gable above, set over bell. Large
coped gable above, with finial.
