4/194 Lower Lodge to Heanton Satchville
II

Lodge to Heanton Satchville house (q.v). Mid C19. Stone rubble walls. Gable-ended
slate roof. Axial brick stack.
Plan: L-shaped plan - principal front range consisting of 2 room one either side of
central hall, heated by stack axial with rear wing which consists of service rooms.
Gothic style.
Exterior: single storey. Symmetrical 2-window front with 3-light 4-centred head
window to either side of central gabled porch. This has decorative barge-board and
glazed side-lights with 4-centred arched wooden doorway with C19 panelled door
behind. Left-hand gable-end faces the road and has canted 4-light bay window with
4-centred heads. Decorative barge-board in gable with tall finial. Opposite gable-
end has similar bay window. Rear wing has windows only on right-hand face, away
from road.
Interior: not inspected.
This is a very unaltered lodge with a distinctive Gothic appearance.
