Formerly the King's Head Inn. A low 2-storey house. Early C17 and later; steep
early tiled roof, brick verges and kneelers on the south gable 2 brick chimney stacks,
2 hipped dormers. All walls are cement rendered. Windows are wooden casements
in stucco reveals three 2 light and one 3 light to the let floor while to the ground
floor there is a 2-light left of the entrance at the south end and then one 3-light
and one 4-light window. Wooden doorcase with 2 plain pilasters and a hood on 2
shallow cut brackets. Good door with 4 fielded and 2 incised panels. The interior
has a large inglenook fireplace with a fine 4 centred arch lintel with mouldings
of about 1600.

Nos 36 to 40 (even) Church Street form a group with Stratford House, Mill Lane
and all the listed building in the Market Square.
