Late C17 2 storey stone house'with steep pitched early tiler roof and brick chimney
stacks. Front cement rendered. Late sash windows, near flush framed, 3 to 1st
floor the 2 outer ones wide with glazing bars, central one narrow. Wide central
entrance recess with heavy simple wooden surround, deep panelled reveals and panelled
soffit. Within to left is door to house, 6 panels (4 fielded and 2 glazed); and
to right double doors to butcher's shop. This has late C19 window. To left of
entrance a wide segmental headed sash window. Interior has a decent early C19 staircase,
4 panel doors throughout and a number of stop chamfered beam.

Nos 36 to 40 (even) Church Street form a group with Stratford House, Mill Lane
and all the listed building in the Market Square.
