The low hall

The Low Hall is beneath the Marble Hall and oringinally only had the(fat)stone pillars. When cracks started to appear in the walls and ceiling, an Architect and Engineer advised that iron (the thin)columns were needed, and in 1806 they were put in place to help support the weight of the Marble Hall above.
The iron columns have been coated and scored to look like the original stone.
