Public house. Initialled and dated " A " with mid C19 extension when
S:M

roof was raised, mid C20 extension. Hammer-dressed stone, stone slate roof.
3-cell lobby-entry plan. 2 storeys with rear basement, built on a hill.
4 bays with added cell in keeping to left end. Quoins. Doorway to left end,
inserted doorway set between 2nd and 3rd bays; original doorway (blocked),
at junction with 4th bay, has raised surround and lintel with false keystone,
above is date plaque. First 3 bays have 4-light flat-faced mullioned windows
with an inner chamfer and raised plain-stone surrounds to each floor. 4th bay
has C20 extension in keeping under cat-slide roof. Regularly-spaced rectangular
gutter brackets. 2 ashlar ridge stacks, one at junction of 3rd and 4th bays
and one to right gable. Rear: 4 irregularly-spaced bays. Central doorway with
stairwindow above has stained glass with heraldic coat of arms. C19 windows
with 16-pane sashes and flush-wood architraves.

Interior: much altered though some original features survive: 2nd cell has
large fireplace with wide segmental arch, voussoirs and skewbacks with
chamfered surround. 3rd cell has C19 fireplace with monolithic jambs and
lintel which retains decorative cast-iron Dutch oven.
