SW 97 NE ST ENDELLION TRELIGHTS
4/153 The Lodge 100m to east of Park
- Villa
GV II
Lodge to Park Villa (qv) now private house. Circa mid C19 probably contemporary with
Park Villa, dated 1842. Stone rubble with granite quoins and slate roof with gable
ends and deep overhanging eaves at front gable end and left-hand side gable end.
Main range of 2 room, double depth plan with entrance in right-hand side elevation
forming cross wing to 1-room range, probably slightly later set back on left, forming
an overall 'L' shaped plan. Picturesque Gothic style.
2 storeys, asymmetrical front and side elevations with C19 casements in dressed stone
arches with original honeycombe leaded lights, some with coloured glass. Entrance in
cross wing set back on left with C19 gabled wooden porch with 2-centred arch doorway,
steeply pitched slate roof with shaped bargeboards and pointed plank door. 2-light
2-centred casement with Y-tracery on first floor to right. Projecting gabled wing on
right with 3-light casement on ground floor and 3-light 2-centred arch window with
intersecting tracery on first. Right-hand side elevation with C19 timber porch,
similar to that on front and 3-light 2-centred arch window arch window with
intersecting tracery. Left-hand side elevation with 2-light 2-centred arch window
with Y tracery.
Interior not inspected.
This picturesque cottage retains much of its C19 fenestration which is especially
important on all elevations.
