Former outbuildings, attached to Stafford House (qv) on south, enclosing a
service yard, and now converted to residential use. Probably c1848.
Brewery Cottage, at south end of yard, the former brewhouse, has rough
ashlar walls, stone slate roof with moulded coped gables and ashlar end
stacks with moulded oversailing caps. One storey above cellar. South
elevation has stone mullioned windows with arched lights, 2 under raised
coped gables. Entrance at rear, in yard, approached up flight of external
stone steps. Interior, retains large bread oven. Woodman's Cottage on east
side of yard, consists of original stable, and east end of the former
kitchen of Stafford House. Rough ashlar walls, stone slate roof. Single
storey. On east front, at right end a gabled wing has one 4-light stone
mullioned window with arched lights and hoodmould. Left of this a range
with roof parallel to frontage has ledged door and similar windows. Coursed
rubble stone wall encloses the service court on west. This has a battened
door under hoodmould. Rubble stone wing wall extends south from the centre
of Brewery Cottage.
