ST 72 NE GILLINGHAM LANGHAM

2/128 Higher Langham House

House 1770 (RCHM). C19 extensions to east and west. Coursed rubble with
hipped tiled roof. Brick stacks at intersections of hips with ridge.
Symmetrical. 2 storeys, 3 bays (to original range). 12 pane sashes in
moulded architraves with keystones. Central C20 glazed door. Doorway has
rusticated surround with three-part keystone and triangular pediment over.
At each end of the facade the eaves are supported on brackets in the form
of triglyphs. The later wings have 3-light casements with either leaded-
lights or glazing bars under wooden lintels. Internal features (RCHM):
principal C18 rooms have moulded and enriched cornices; stone fireplace
in hall with decorated entablature; staircase with close strings, latticed
balustrades and panelled oak dadoes.
