Rose Cottage

Farmhouse. Late C17 or early C18. Limewashed rubble, shingle roof, formerly
thatched. May have been 3 room cross passage plan with heated outer rooms, and
staircase flanking fireplace at left end. Two storeys, 3 windows; at ground
floor a 3-light casement and wide, part glazed door under lean-to slate hood; a
small blocked light between the two. At first floor, three 2-light casements,
no glazing bars. Large gable stack, left. Back has later extensions, and cat-
slide roof. Right end has half-hip and small external stack. Left return
rendered with a small stairlight and a 2-light casement, 2 blocked openings.
Interior has some exposed rough beams, large chimney breast and spiral stair
left hand end. Original collar roof trusses on cruck-like principals.
