25.9.83 entrance to churchyard of
St Michael's Church
GV II

Two gates and five standards. Late C19. Cast and wrought iron. Carriage gate
flanked by pedestrian gate, plus enclosing railings at perimeter of swing of smaller
gate. 5 plain cylindrical cast iron standards inscribed 'C Davey and Sons Bampton'
with finials, carrying gates with curved top to low centre, and trefoil bracing.
Verticals in three rows in augmentation - centre section doubled and bottom section
tripled. These gates, presumably to exclude stock from the churchyard, are in fine
original condition and are one pair of a set of three still in situ.
