- Barn 40 metres south-west of Great
Pit Farmhouse

Barn with engine house. C17 and C19. Cob stone plinth, with much brick and some
breezeblock patching. Gabled end pantiled and corrugated iron roof. A long range of
2 main building periods; the older section lies nearest to the house, with external
steps to upper floor at the north end; 3-light unchamfered window faces farmyard. 2
(possibly 3) jointed crucks, morticed and pegged at apex; collars now gone; much
later reinforcement. The south section of this range with opposed wagon entrances, 2
doorways and loft entrance, with weatherboarded to rear, with projecting engine house
with polygonal hipped roof surviving intact.
