SX 69 SW BELSTONE

Old Thatch (Lower Priestacott on
3/3 O.S)

Small house. Early or mid C19, modernised circa 1980. Plastered granite stone
rubble; granite stack with C19 brick top; thatch roof, slate to outshot.
Plan: 3-room plan house facing south-west. Axial stack between the left and centre
rooms serves back to back fireplaces. The left ground floor room was formerly
servant accommodation and does not connect with the centre room or the chamber
above. C20 Kitchen extension on right end. Main house is 2 storeys.
Exterior: Regular but not symmetrical 2-window front of C20 casements with glazing
bars. The left end room breaks forward a short distance from the main house and has
a C20 slate-roofed porch in front. The main doorway is to the right room and there
too is a C20 slate-roofed porch Roof is gable-ended and hipped to right.
Interior has plain carpentry detail.
