Description

OKEHAMPTON HAMLETS
SX 59 NE

4/92 Brightley Bridge
-
II

Road bridge over Okement River. Probably incorporates some C16 fabric partly
rebuilt in 1858. Stone rubble with dressed granite voussoirs and coping stones, 3
arches, probably widened on both sides. On the south side they have segmental
arches whereas they are slightly 4-centred on the north side. The north
(downstream) side has reconstructed flat cutwaters those on the south (upstream)
side are triangular and may be original. Straight parapets with swept out
abutments.
