House, circa, 1833. Rendered brick with slate roof; 2 Storeys, 3 bays.
6-panel entrance door with raised and fielded lower panels, upper 4
panels glazed, and plain rectangular fanlight, approached up 3 steps,
framed by plain stucco pilasters and with moulded head. Added C19
hexagonal bay windows with sashes and lead flat roofs flank the door
with a similar bay window on the south gable. First floor windows are
recessed sashes. No sashes have glazing bars. Wide eaves soffite
with fascia and crown mould, hipped roof with lead hips and ridge.
Gable chimneys. Was the home of James Cropper, a pioneer of education
in Lancashire.
