Circa 1756-1778 by Capability Brown whose master plan for Burghley is dated
1756, and the final account is dated 1779. Neo-Jacobean. Rectangular ashlar
building with pilastered corners and ornate Jacobean strapwork cresting, with
very tall pinnacles over the corners. One storey. Three glazed bays with
intricately carved tympanae. Possibly inspired by the Jacobean banqueting
house at Campden House, Chipping Campden, Gloucestershire.
