Part of the Castle Estate Development 1793-1816. Three shops
and offices forming a return of Union Place terrace in Market
Street. Local brown brick, No. 9 with roughcast render. Three
storeys and basement. Shallow parapet with stone coping. Six
first and second floor blind windows and hung sash and casement
windows, some with glazing bars. All still retain original
openings in cambered gauged red brick arches and stone cills.
Three ground floor windows in similar openings with window
replacements to Nos. 8 and 9. Three entrances in round-headed,
gauged red brick arches, with plain fanlights. No. 10, six-
panelled door. Interiors. No. 8 has some original four-
panelled doors, No. 9 original six-panelled door and plain,
closed string staircase. No. 10 has original windowcases,
plain, closed string staircase and alcove cupboards. (See Nos.
