SX 87 SW OGWELL EAST OGWELL VILLAGE

GV II

House, probably late C16 or C17, burnt out in 1983. Only the outer walls survive
in the restored building. Rendered stone or cob. Thatched roof. 2 storeys. Long
building with gable fronting street. Gable has projecting stack with set-offs, a
further rectangular projection with slated pent roof (probably an oven) as its
foot. To left a doorway with 4-panelled door the 2 lower panels flush. Wooden
pent roof on brackets above. To right, 1 window in each storey, C20 with imitation
leaded lights. Included for group value.
