House and barns. C18. Datestones: "TWS/1747 (on barn); "TW 1761" (front
plaque). Coursed stone rubble with some ashlar and slate roofs. House of
2 storeys and 3 bays, the 1st bay recessed, perhaps earlier, with hipped roof.
Quoins to 2nd and 4th bays. Windows have ashlar surrounds and are sashed with
vertical glazing bars and horns. Entrance to 3rd bay has architrave, frieze and
pediment. Blind window above has 2 panels, the top panel perhaps sundial now
with painting dated 1966, the lower panel inscribed: "BADGER GATE WAS/BUILT IN
THE YEAR 1781/BY JOHN WEARING". Gable-end stacks and cross-axial stack. Right
return has pigeon loft openings to gable. Rear wing has to east 3 windows, one
sashed with glazing bars, to west, a lean-to porch, the inner entrance to rear
of house has 1761 date; lean-to outshut has laterial stack and pentice.
Attached barn has 2 later wings to east; to west a segmental-headed barn door
and projecting barn, which has ball finial. Outshut under catslide roof to
south which has passage to barn entrance and flanking entrances with chamfered
openings, 1747 datestone to left his foliage trail decoration. North side has
cow house entrances and windows, one with chamfered opening, winnowing door has
flat arch.
