The Garderobe Tower (a modern name) was built in the late 14th century at the south-west corner of the Southampton Castle.
The Tower was originally 3 stories high and housed on the ground and first floors the Garderobe (Lavatory) facilities for the Castle Hall. These drained into the sea via a sluice which was flushed clean by the tide.
The Tower, along with the adjoining Town Wall, was demolished in the late 19th century.
