House. Early C16, largely rebuilt and extended in C17, and
extended at W in mid C20. Timber frame plastered on brick sill,
with old red tile roofs, now hipped. 2-storeys, irregular shaped
house facing S. 6-windows front with C20 panelled door in
middle. Triple casement windows renewed. Oldest part at E end a
2-storeys, 2-bay wing with heavy curved moulded braces to
cambered tie-beam on upper floor and mortices for similar braces
to cross-beam on ground floor. Roof probably originally a crown-
post roof, reconstructed in late C17. Long wing to SW of this
has regular pattern of beams on both floors with the structure of
a Queen-strut clasped-purlin roof remain in the roof. A taller
2-storeys late C17 parlour-wing projects to S in the angle
between the 2 other wings. There is a taller C20 matching square
block at the W end with internal doors and doorcases on both
floors of fine quality, bolection moulded in oak, from elsewhere,
possibly dating from c1700.
