C16 centre with varied Walling mainly flint and rubble with some red
brickwork and some some timber framing. Extensions either side, late C17 or
early C18, of flint rubble brick faced. 2 storeys and attics, tiled roof,
2 gabled dormers. Exposed timbers Inside. The keep was formerly a gardner's
cottage attached to Berkhamsted Place.
